Catholic YouTube Channels from Sascha!

The format for all of these is pretty conversational because that's the kind of TV I like to watch (basically a podcast with a camera on the folks who are talking).

Godsplaining

• From the Dominicans
• I like this channel because they're Dominicans—nerdy and focused on clarity and truth. Sometimes they interview folks who are more activistic within the church or folks who go further out on an interpretive limb and stir up controversy for better or worse. But the hosts keep it grounded.
• They cover a huge range of topics—foundations of the faith, current events in the church, etc.

Breaking in the Habit

• From a Franciscan
• A channel from Fr. Casey Cole, who is in the oldest, biggest order of Franciscans. (They're called "The OFMs". Among Franciscan orders, the names are mostly three-letter abbreviations without much distinction in meaning. The Capuchins are the exception with a cool name. It's Latin for roughly "hoodie", since their habits have hoods.)
• He mostly covers foundations of the faith type stuff but from a Franciscan perspective—a bit more focus on poverty and community and bit less of a deep dive than the Dominicans.

• The YouTube channel of a Catholic media company/book publisher with some great presenters
• Fr. Mike Schmitz
  • Diocesan Priest
  • Does a lot of campus and on-line ministries, and focuses on foundations of faith
  • I think he's especially skillful at making the basics accessible and concise without dumbing them down or oversimplifying.
• Sr. Mary Grace
  • Sisters of Life Order
  • Some amazing content on living out the faith.
  • More than explicitly teaching doctrine, I feel like Sr. Mary Grace leads by example in a way that's been helpful and impactful for me.

Bishop Barron

• Bishop Robert Barron
• A bishop with a career full of leadership and media roles.
• I like his books, but I'm not as much of a fan of his YouTube content, since I prefer ad-hoc conversations and presentations over a polished production. But a lot of people love his work.

The Capuchins!

• They don't have a ton on YouTube, but this is the channel of the folks I'm applying to join. I've met most of the guys in the videos.
• I love that like half of their videos are kind of goofy/funny.
